The City of Winchester Pipes & Drums currently practice at the
War Memorial Building located in Jim Barnett Park in Winchester.

Practices are on Tuesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Directions to the War Memorial Building

+For the technically literate, go to maps.google.com and simply enter the lattitude/longitude of 39.174963,-78.154635 into the search box. This will direct you exactly to the War Memorial Building. If you click on Satellite view you can easily make out the building. The usual practice room, the George Washington Room is in the northeast corner of the building.

+For the not-so-technically literate go back and try the google maps instructions above. You can even highlight all of those numbers in the coordinates and cut and paste them to the google maps search box. It really is simple.

Getting to Winchester

Winchester can be accessed from Northern Virginia via I-66, VA 7 or US 50. From the North or South on I-81, you will want to use Exit 313 (US 50, US 522). Once in Winchester, Jim Barnett Park is a short drive from this intersection.

 

Finding Jim Barnett Park

From the intersection of US 50 and I-81, proceed west on US 50 (Millwood Avenue) down the hill, through the traffic lights (two lights very close together) and stay to the right on Millwood. Jubal Early Drive curves left toward the Hampton Inn and away from the park, so you will want to be sure to stay right on the single lane of Millwood. Continue past Shenandoah University to the next traffic light at Pleasant Valley Road. Take a right on Pleasant Valley and continue to the second traffic light. Turn right onto Cork Street/Senseny Road and proceed to the first traffic light. Turn right into Jim Barnett Park.

 

Navigating the park to the War Memorial Building

Once inside the park proceed a few hundred yards to your first left. Turn left in front of the War Memorial Building and continue about 75 yards to the parking lot on the right. You can enter the building via the old entrance on the north side or through the new Active Living facility on the east side. The usual practice room, the George Washington Room is in the northeast corner of the building.
